USA 6 - San Francisco 2

Hei, jatkoa USA:n matkaan. Olemme edelleen San Franciscossa.
Hi, here contunes our trip in USA.  We are still in San Francisco.
We looked with respect this street and hill, because we had desided to try a swing with Cabel Car, the local vehicle, which just goes hills like this upp and down.  In fact we had a couple of rides with this vehicle, when we found out that it suited well for our routes.
This tram of San Francisco is rather little and witout doors.  To stand on the steps hanging of the pillars is possible and popular thing to do also when Cabel Car is moving.  That would not be possible to do in our countries. We did that on an other way, we stood on the back taking photos and discussing with the humoristic brake man.  There were queue when we came to the stop and had to wait for a moment to a new carriage.

Odotttaessamme saimme havaintoesityksen siitä, miten nämä vaunut käännetään.  Päätepysäkillä on pyöreä levy jossa on raiteet.
While waiting, we got a demonstration how one can put the carriage to the right direction again. On the endstation there is a round plate with rails.  Under the plate there is some kind of bearings that makes it possible to rotate the plate.  The carriage drives to the rails on the plate, one push a little the carriage and the whole thing and plate goes round, and when it is in the right position the carriage can drive out again and to the stop.  Easy and handy!

Heti lähdimme nousemaan korkealle, korkealle mäelle. Siellä kohtasimme vastaantulevan toisen vaunun.
We started to climb uphills right a way.  On the very topp we met an other carriage.

A swing in the streetcorner and a new acclivity again.  I  am with my camera looking back and so the photoshows the hill down, and the carriage is behind me on its way higher and higher.

Kaunis talorivi matkan varrella!
There were some beautiful house rows on the way!

Ja siten piiiiiiiitkät  alamäet ! Tuon mäen jätämme siis juuri taaksemme.
And then there were those laaaanng downhills!  We just left that hill behind us.

Macy'in kauppakeskus/tavaratalo matkan varrella.
The Macy's shopping center/ department stores on our way.  Here was also the Cheesekake Factory, which we one day tryied to visit to taste their famous cheesekakes, but we were told that the queues took about 2 hours.  We decided to forget the kakes!

The night began to dark under our Cabel Car tour.  I could not quite in the twilight see what this little cute shop sold, until I saw to the picture afterwards.   It was neclaces and chokers they sold.

The last downhills to the Powell - end station  on Market Street, from where there is only a stone's throw to our hotell.  The altitude of the houses has grown the nearer we have come the city centre, and the night at the same time has got darker.

Iltanäkymä yli San Franciscon hotellimme ikkunasta.
The nightseem over S.F. from our hotel window.

Our next target was to see the Pacific Ocean Beach and Golden Gate Park, which is some lager than Central Par in New York.  Here we had also thought to try driving with Segway, because we had red it was possible in the park.

Hauskoja pikkutaloja molemmin puolin katuja lähestyessämme raitiovaunulla merenrantaa.
Some funny small houses on both sizes of the street when approaching the sea.

Unfortunately thic was the only day with bad weather, so we had not much joy for the fine, bread and lang Pacific Ocean Beach.  The fog was and stayed over San Francisco until the late afternoon this day, and seemed to concentrate specially on to the seaside of the city.

We soon walked back and took us to the Golden Gate Park, which  started right after the sand dunes on other side of the street.  We saw a lot of for us unknown trees, bushes and flowers on our promenade.

This "Wanted" announce hanging in a tree i the park surprised us.  There was surely not a criminal one was
looking for, but a missing person, who one hoped to get possible information.  I would not, however wait to see this kind of messages in trees and parks here round.  We shall wish  anyway that this guy has come back
 whole and living!

One of the bigger trees in the park, I do not remember the name of this one, but it look funny with its streaky
bark, which gradually falls down as long ribbons.  Unfortenately we did not see the buffalos, which also should been there, they propably had hide theirselves on the far corner of their fencing.  We did not either find any lunch place or café , and when we began to get tired to walk around and the weather hold foggy and a little bit wet, we walked to a tram stop.  We travelled then back to the city and thought that we maybe had been on the "wrong" end of the park, or this park maybe was not so fun and versatile than Central Park in N.Y.

Illan kohtemme oli China Town   eli San Franciscon kiinalaisessa kaupunginosassa. Se jäi meille kuitenkin pettymykseksi.  Olimme odottaneet siltä paljon enemmän.  Olikohan ajoituksemme aivan väärä täälläkin?
We choosed to go the China Town in the evening.  It was although a little disappointment for us.  We had expected much more of it.  I wonder if our timing was quite wrong here, too?

It seemed, that there were one checkered small shop after one other, all selling only very tipical chinese tourist things, and also many restaurants, which of the most although were already closed.

We were unlucky that we came here rather late and in dark, but we had thought that it would be more life here also later in the evening, so that we could have a nice chinese dinner here.  We were ashtonished that the most shops and restaurants were closed or just closing and the longer we walked the darker and more closed it became.  We returned to the centre looking for a open restaurant.

Näkemisiin ensi kertaan, jolloin jälleen jotakin San Franciscosta ja sitten ulos sieltä vuokra-autolla.
Until next time, then a little bit more of  S.A. and the out of the town in a hired car.
