Jälleen uusi pätkä viimesyksyisestä Italian-matkastamme - ja VAIN noin puolivuotta myöhässä!!
Tähän väliin on mahtunut kaikenlaista, touhua ja ajatusta ja matkojakin taas, ja tärkeysjärjestys on
sanellut, että blogi on saanut odottaa.  Mutta matkaan nyt:
Here again a bit of our Italy-trip last autumn - and ONLY about a half year overdue!  During the winter there have happened and been much to do and think, and there have been som new trips again, and so the priority has dictated that the blog will wait.  But now, we set out!

 Kapeat kiemurtelevat tiet, pienet kylät ja kaupungit, ja kauniit näkymät jatkuivat rannikolla.
Small swinging roads, small villages and towns, and beautiful scenes continued on the coast.

 Upea ravintola puutarhoineen hienolla paikalla tien varrella.

 Lähestyimme   Salernoa -  We were approaching Salerno.

Ajoimme vain Salernon läpi ja sen jälkeen alkoivat maisemat itä-pohjoiseen matkatessamme nopeasti muuttua matalammiksi, ensin kauniisti kumpuileviksi, ja  myöhemmin vieläkin latteammiksi viljelysseuduiksi.

We only drived through Salerno, and soon after it,  on our way to east-north coast,  started the landscapes quickly  to change lower and first beautifully undulating and afterward still more flattisch farmareas.

  

           

Moottoritiekään ei kovin paljoa mutkitellut matkatessamme kohden Foggiaa itärannikolla.
The motorways did not either have many curves on our way to Foggia on the eastern coast.

Muutimme alkuperäistä matkasuunnitelmaamme, missä olimme ajatelleet enemmänkin tutkia itärannikon pikkuteitä. Mutta päätimme päivää ennen, että Foggiaan tultuamme jatkaisimme suorinta tietä eteenpäin Pescaraan saakka, ja sen jälkeen maan halki takaisin Roomaa kohden, jonne halusimme säästää useamman lomapäivän.

We changed our original tripplan, where we had thought to study more east coast's small ways.  But the day before we desided that after Foggia we would go on the direct way to Pescara, and after that

cross the country and back to Rome, to use several holidays there instead.

Kuvia Itärannikon upeista hiekkarannoista, joilla ei näkynyt juurikaan ihmisiä, vaikka hiekkarannat olivat hienoja, ilma kuuma ja aurinkoinen ja  vedet kirkkaat  ja lämpimät!  Mutta täällä vain kerta kaikkiaan oli sesonki lopussa ja koulut alkaneet paria viikkoa aikaisemmin, joten rannoille eksyivät vain jotkut hyvin harvat turistit ja muutamia paikallisasukkaat, joilla saattoi olla vapaapäiviä. Omituista kun säätä vielä riitti vaikka kuinka. Myös kioskit ja rantabaarit alkoivat olla kaikki suljettuja - turistien puutteessa!  Me pysähdyimme kuitenkin näinä hienoina päivinä nauttimaan sekä näistä tyhjistä rannoista, auringosta kuin ihanasta lämpimästä merivedestäkin!

Pictures from east coast's wonderful beaches where you hardly saw people, though the beaches are really fine, weather was hot and sunny and waters clear and warm!  But here just was the season over, the schools had started a few weeks earlier, so only some few tourists found their ways to the beaches and a couples of locals who maybe had a freeday.  It was very strange when weather still was so wonderful fine.  Also almost all  kiosks and beachcafees were closed - maybe in lack of tourists!  We stopped anyway on these fine days to enjoy the empty beaches, sun and the nice warm 

sea water!

                 

 

 Tämä ranta oli jo lähempänä Pescaraa, jonne olimme matkalla yöpymään.  Oikea kauniita kiviä rakastavan eldorado!  Olisin voinut jäädä tänne tunneiksi vaeltamaan ja poimimaan toinen toistaan kauniimpia ja sileämpiä kiviä - eikä täälläkään mitään tungosta!

This was a beach  was alreadu more close to Pescara where we were on our way to stay over night. This was a real eldorado for one who loves beautiful pebbles.  I could have stopped here for hours just to wander and pick one pebbel more fine and smooth after the other - and no chrusch here either! 

Itärannikon kaupunki Pescara iltavalaistuksessa, oli myöhä ilta kun tulimme sinne ja kaupunki alkoi olla jo hiljentynyt ja kadut tyhjentyneet ihmisistä.  Onneksi löysimme ravintoloita, jotka vielä olivat auki.

Eastcoast town Pescara in evening light, it was late in the evening when we came there, and the town was already rather quiet and the streets empty of people.  We were lucky to find some restaurants that still were open.

Seuraavana aamuna alkoi paluu kohden Roomaa jättääksemme vuokra-auton jälleen lentokentälle ja viettääksemme viimeiset 3-4 päivää Roomassa tutkien kaupunkia enimmäkseen jalkaisin ja myös taksia käyttäen.

The next morning we startet back toward Rome in order to leave the hired car to the air port and

then to use the 3-4 days in Rome inspecting the city mostly walking and also using taxi.


Me ajoimme poikki Italian keskimaan kohdilta, läpi Maiolla ja Abrucco Luonnonpuistojen, ohi korkeiden vuorien ja suurien metsien.  Valitsimme enimmäkseen moottoritien emmekä paljoa pysähdelleet, sillä olimmehan päättäneet käyttää enimmän loppuajan Roomassa.  Jotta olisimme saaneet nauttia upeista näköaloista, meidän olisi pitänyt ajaa jotakin "vihreää" ja kiemurtelevaa tietä, ja se olisi vienyt paljon enemmän aikaa.  Täytyy palata katsomaan puistojen näköaloja toisella kertaa!

We drove cross Italias midt land, partly through Maiolla and Abrucco Nathional Parcs, high mountains and large woods.  We choosed to drive mostly on motorway and did not stop much on our way, we had you decided to have much possible time in Rome in the end. For to get good sights and views one should have taken a "green" and curved way, and it had taken much more of our time.  
We have to come back some day to take a better look and views in the National parks.

Ylläolevassa kartassa näkyy Avezzanon kaupunki, joka oli v. 1915 Italian keskiosassa tapahtuneen voimakkaan maanjäristyksen episentrum.  96 prosenttia Avezzanon väestöstä menehtyi ja korkeammista rakennuksista vain yksi ainoa säilyi pystyssä.  Alla kuva Avezzanon alueelta, pikkukaupungista Magliano de' Marsi.
In the map over, one can see the area/town of Avezzano, which was the epicentrum of an serious earthquake in the middle of Italy.  96 per cent of the people of Avezzano was directly or as  the consequence of  it  killed and only one higher building  was standing after it.  Under a picture from the Avezzano area, little town of Magliano de' Marsi.

Kun vuoret tulivat liian jylhiksi ja niiden ylitys ja ympäriajo tuli turhan hankalaksi, ajettiin sen sijaan niiden läpi.  Ensin piti jonkun tietysti rakentaa tunneli!  Tässä ikuistettuna yksi monista, jonka läpi ajoimme matkallamme Roomaan.  Matkaan ei kulunut montaakaan tuntia hienoja moottoriteitä ja tällaisia tunneleita käyttäen.   - Seuraava postaus itse Roomasta  --- vihdoinkin!
When the mountains became too high and overcoming or driving around becaime too jobby, one drove throuh them, in stead.  But first had someone to build the tunnel, of cource!  Here is one of many which we drove through on our way to Rome.  The trip down threre took not many hours using fine motorways and tunnels like this.  - Next posting is from the Rome itself  --- at last!!

Matkamme Sorrenton ja Caprin jälkeen jatkui vuokra-autolla ympäri Sorrenton niemen kärjen ja etelää kohden.  Maisemat edelleen yhtä upeita ja jokaisen mutkan jälkeen näkyi vain uusia niemiä ja poukamia niiden välissä.  Pelottavan jyrkät rinteet ja kalliot laskeutuivat suoraan mereen.  Tällä alueella oli hiekkarantoja vähemmän, mutta koska päivästä tuntui tulevan hyvin kuuma, vaikka se olikin utuinen, päätimme käyttää siitä osan uimarannassa niin pian kuin näkisimme sellaisen. Ajoimme ohi pienen kauniin kaupungin (Massa Lubrense) ja jonkin ajan kuluttua  löysimme pienen kiemurtelevan tien, joka johti Marina Del Cantoneen.  

Our way after Sorrento and Capri continued with our rentcar around Sorrento cape and to the south.

 The landscape was still as wonderful as before and after every swing you just coul see new and again new ness and capes with bays between.  The reddfull high and steep slopes ended directly in the see.   Just on this area  there were less of beaches.  The day seemed to be very warm and we decided to use some of it on a beach so soon we could find one.  We drove by a beautiful little town Massa Lubrense, and some time afterward we saw a way down to Marina Del Cantone.

Marina Del Cantone - tänne poikkesimme nauttimaan rantapäivästä. Kaunis ranta, ihanan kirkas vesi. Tämä oli kiviranta, kauniita kiviä, mutta rantapenger oli hieman jyrkkä ja ongelma oli päästä vedestä ylös kun kivet aina pyörivät alaspäin jalkojen alla!  

- We stack down here to enjoy a half day on the beach.  The beach was beautiful with clear water and beautiful mooth pepples but the waterline was a little bit steep and it was some difficulties to climb up from the water when all the pepples just rolled downwards under your feet!

Joka mutkan jälkeen tuli uusi mutka ja uusi niemi.  Tie ja autot  näyttävät kuin leikkikaluista tuolla  rinteen puolivälissä!

After every swing, there will be a new one.  The way and cars look like small toys there in the middle of the sloops!

Saavuimme Praianoon myöhään iltapäivällä.  Tämä ei ole suuri paikka eikä täällä juuri voi eksyä!
Pääväylä kulkee kylän läpi ja kaunis kirkko on hyvä maamerkki - myös bussin pysäyttämistä silmällä pitäen.
We arrived to Praiano later on the afternoon.  This is not any large place so you cannot get lost here!

The mainway goes through the village and the beautiful church is a good landmark - also if you have to stop a buss here.

Löysimme pian hotellimme ja asetuimme taloksi, mutta pian kuulimme musiikkia kadulta. Parvekkeeltamme saatoimme nähdä, että kyseessä oli paikallinen orkesteri joka marssi ja harjoitteli kadulla.  Ehkäpä meidän tulomme kunniaksi, kukaties!?  ;-)

We found soon our hotel and checked in, but soon after coming to our room we hear music from the street.  From the balcony we could see that there were a local musiccorp marching and training on the street. Maybe to honour our arrival!??  ;-) 

Lähdimme heti tutkimaan ympäristöämme.  Löysimme pian pienen tien, joka näytti vievän kohden paikallista rantaa, joka sitten osoittautui pettymykseksi.  Se oli hyvin pieni rakennettu betonilaatan päälle.  Varsinainen hiekkaosuus veden rajassa molemmin puolin oli hyvin pieni ja muuten ranta oli louhikkoinen.  Aurinkotuolit ja -varjot näyttivät siisteiltä samoin pieni baari/kahvila, mutta sieltä kantautuva musiikki oli hyvin kovaäänistä.  Päättelimme tämän rannan sopivan lähinnä nuorisolle varsinkin sinne vievine pitkine ja kiemuraisine kujineen ja lukuisine jyrkkine rappuineen. Minä jouduin huohottelemaan ja lepäämään vähän väliä takaisin ylös kiivetessämme (huono kunto???).

We decided to go out and explore the environments.  Found a way to local beach but it was an disappointment. The strand was very small, mostly built on a betong and elswere there was only short bits sand on both sides and then only rocks.  The sunbeds and parasols seemed to be fine and also the little bar/café there, but there from flowed out very loud music.  We thought that this place would suit best for young people, specially with the small and swinging allyes and many steep stairs which led down to the strand.  I had to stop and take breath now and then on our way back up (bad condition???).

Hotellimme,"Hotel le Fioriere", jonka olimme varanneet jo ennen matkaamme Italiaan, oli keskikokoinen perhehotelli, missä useammat perheenjäsenet myös työskentelivät.  Perheen äiti ja tytär ja poika vuorottelivat vastaanotossa.  Poika oli myös vuoroilloin vastuussa illallisvalmisteluista

kattoterassin grilliravintolassa.  Kaikki henkilökunnassa olivat erittäin mukavia, auttavaisia ja ystävällisiä.  Huoneemme oli puhdas, raikas ja hyvän kokoinen.  Huoneeseemme kuului erillinen, kuvassa oikealla näkyvä pukeutumishuone jossa oli näkyvän pöydän lisäksi vielä yksi tuoli oikealla, sekä suuret vaatekaapit peileineen.  Kylpyhuone oli erikseen.  Lisäksi meillä oli mukavan kokoinen parveke merelle ja pääkadulle päin.  Pelkäsin liikenteen melua ensin, mutta se ei häirynnyt laisinkaan,  varsinkin kun liikenne väheni ja lopahti kokonaan hyvin aikaisin illalla.  Hotelli sijaitsi noin puolimatkassa Positanon ja Amalfin kaupunkien välissä, n. 15-20 minuutin bussimatkan päässä, matka ei ole pitkä eikä kallis kumpaankaan, mutta näillä teillä ei voi ajaa nopeasti!  Meille tämä sopi erinomaisesti koska emme halunneet itse ajaa näitä kiemuraisia ja hyvin kapeita teitä moneen kertaan vuokra-autollamme ja halusimme asua hotellissa jossa oli parkkipaikka tai autotallit. Samanhenkisille voimme lämpimästi suositella tätä hotellia.  Ruoka oli erinomaista hotellin omassa grillissä ja aamiainen tavattoman runsas ja monipuolinen, aivan omaa luokkaansa!

Our hotel, "Hotel le Fioriere" which we had booked before the trip to Italy,  was a mediumsize familyhotel and some of the familymembers worked there as well. The mother, daughter and son worked in turn at the reception.  The son had also his remit in the grillrestauranten on the roof.  The whole personal was very nice, helpful and friendly.  Our room was very clean, fresh and of good size.  In the picture down here you can see it has kind of extra room to the left, kind of toiletroom to get dressed in,  There was one chair more inside, big mirrors and many closets.  There was also separate bathroom.  We had also a nice balcon facing the sea and main road.  I was a little worried about possible trafikk noise from the street, but it was no problem in the room  and there were almost no trafikk later on in the evening. The hotel situated almost in the middle of between Positano and Amalfi towns, about 15-20 minutes by buss.  The way was not long neither expensive to any of the places, but on these ways one cannot dry much faster either.  For us this location suited very well, because, we did not want to drive much back and forth with our rent car, and in the same time wanted a hotell with parkinplace or carage.  For people with same thoughts can we warmly recommend this hotel.  The food was very good on the hotellets grill  and the breakfast was superb, diverse and very generous.

Aurinko laski valitettavasti pilveen molempina iltoina, joten emme saaneet upeita auringonlaskukuvia, vaikka olin toivonut!
The sunset was cloudy on both nights so I did not get any wonderful sunset pix here,  as I  had hoped!

Ennen illastamista toisena iltanamme täällä kuulimme jälleen musiikkia kadulta ja totesimme silloin, että tuo aikaisempi  musiikkiryhmä oli nähtävästi  jälleen tulossa.  Mutta tällä kertaa ei ollutkaan kysymyksessä harjoittelu, vaan katua marssi kokonainen juhlakulkue.  Ensimmäisinä marssi muutaman kirkonmiehen jäljessä lasten kulkue punaisissa silkkiliiveissään, pienimmät äitiensä taluttamina.  Heidän jälkeensä tuli jälleen kirkonmiehiä ja mahdollisesti muita kylän tärkeitä herroja, kolmen kuoropojan takana, kantaen pyhimyskuvaa kantotuolissa.  Heidän takanaan tuli jälleen orkesteri soittaen, ja heidän jäljissään marssi sitten paikallista väestöä pitkänä kulkueena.  Kaikki suuntasivat tiensä paikalliseen kirkkoon.  Oli Praianon pyhimyksen juhlapäivä ja sitä juhlittiin koko ilta kirkossa ja sen  edustalla olevalla aukiolla.  Sinne oli järjestety erilaisia myyntikojuja sekä juotavaa ja syötävää sekä maiseisia ja leikkitavaroita ja pelejä lapsille, kuin myös pienimuotoinen kirpputori. Orkesteri soitti siellä myöhään iltaan ja juhlat päättyivät juuri sopivasti samaan aikaan kuin me istuimme vielä hotellin kattoterassilla illallisella,. Saimme siten samalla nähdä ja ihailla kerrassaan upeaa ilotulitusta illan päätteeksi.  Sopiva päätös vierailullemme Praianossa!

Before our dinner on the other night we heard again music from the street and found out then that the music corp from the first day was coming by again.  But this time it was not a question of training but it was a whole procession coming.  First some men from church and then chrildren in their red waistcoats, the smallest of them with their mothers, after them a few young (choir)boys and then came some churchmen again with some considerable men from the village/town carrying a figure of the local saint. After these came the music corp playing, and at last local people marched   as a long procession.  All were on their way to the church near our hotel.  It was the festivitas of the local saint and it was celebrated both in and outside the church on a little piazza.  One had placed small stalls and tables there with drink and food, and sweets. toys and games for childen, and some fleetmarked items, too.  The celebration continued to late evening and ended when we still sat on the roofterasse of the hotel.  So  we were also able from "first row" to see the wonderful fireworks which ended the festivalday. It was also a very suitable ending for our visit in Praiano!

Ikuinen kaupunki ja muita (1) - The Everlasting city and others (1)

ROOMA - Urbs aeterna - Ikuinen kaupunki - Everlasting city
 -  kaikki tiet vievät Roomaan - all the roads lead to Rome!

On ollut tavallista pidempi paussi blogini pidossa. Siihen ovat mm. syynä useammatkin matkat tässä
syyspuolella, tässä yhdestä:

Mutkan kautta vei meidänkin tiemme Roomaan syyskuussa.  Mutta ennen Roomaan tuloa ajoimme vuokra-autolla ensin Rooman lentokentältä pitkin länsirannikkoa Pompeijiin (Napolin jätimme väliin), ja edelleen Sorrenton ja Amalfin rannikkoa pitkin ja sitten poikki maan itärannikolle.  Siellä Foggian ja Termolin kautta Pescaraan.  Jälleen yli maan läpi laaksojen, vuorien ja metsien ja sitten vihdoin Roomaan. Ilma suosi koko matkan, aurinkoa ja lämpöä enemmän kuin riittämiin, ja merivesi oli aivan ihanan lämmintä uitavaksi. Paremmitta puheitta:  kuvia!

There has been a long paus in my blog.  The course among others are many travels again, here about one of them:

Around a corner our way also went to Rome, in September. But before  Rome we first drove by a rented car from the Rome airport along the west coast to Pompeii (we dropped Napel), via Sorrento and Amalfi-coast and then over the country to eastern coast.  There through Foggia and Termoli to Pescara. Again over the country, over dales and mountains through woods and then at last to Rome itself. The weather was wonderful all the way, both sun and warmth more than enough, and the seawater was so enjoyable warm to swim.  Without more talking: pics!

Joidenkin tuntien ajamisen jälkeen saavuimme Pompeijin kaupunkiin, missä aikaa kului melkoisesti etsiessämme B&B majoituspaikkaamme, nimeltään "La Casa di Plinio (Via Stabiana 3, Pompei). Se on pieni 4-5 huoneen B&B, yksityisen perheen ylläpitämä.  Monien kiemuroiden jälkeen se löytyikin ja osoittautui aivan ihanaksi paikaksi.  Huone mukava ja siisti ja kylppärikin oikein elegantti, vaikka sijaitsikin pohjakerroksessa. Isäntäväki (perhe) olivat todella viehättäviä, ystävällisiä ja avuliaita. Kertoivat meille ympäristöstä ja Pompeijista, jonne oli lyhyt kävelymatka hotellista. Suosittelemme tätä B&B:tä, eikä vähiten seuraavan aamun suuren ja monipuolisen aamiaisen ja vastaleivottujen valtavien ja suussasulavien croissantien vuoksi! 

After som hours driving we came to Pompeii, where we used some time when trying find our B&B hotel, by name "La Casa di Plinio (Via Stabiana 3, Pompei). It is a very little family B&B hotel of 4-5 rooms. After some driving and way asking  we found it, and it showed to be a wonderful place.  The room was quite nice and very clean, and bathroom elegant, though it was located in the bottom floor.

The family was really nice and friendly and helpsome.  They told us about the enviroments and Pompeii, which was a short walking distance from the hotel.   We can recommend this place, not least  because the next mornings very generous and tasty breakfast and the newly baked  big and delicious croissants!

 ...ja sitä vastapäätä mukava pizzeria, jossa oli paras pizza mitä olemme syöneet aikoihin, maistuva

ja mehukas.  Ja syödessämme seurasimme kahden herran ja poliisin pitkää ja vilkasta keskustelua edessämme.  Taisi eräs autoilija saada sakotkin siinä keskustelun lomassa!

...and vis à vis the church is a very nice pizza restaurant, where we ate the best pizza ever, taisty and

moisty.  And while eating we followed a long and lively discustion between two gentlemen and a police in front of us. One cardriver may have received some penalty, too, while these were talking! 

Kukkia riittämiin syksystä huolimatta!  Lot of flowers in spite of autumn!

Seuraavana aamuna oli vuorossa Pompeijin vanhan, vuosikymmeniä laavaan ja tuhkaan hautautuneen kaupungin tutkiminen.
Om the next morning we were going to see the old town of Pompeii, the one which was for decades overwhelmed  by lava and ash.

Talorivejä, nyt raunioina ja kujia oli tiheässä, mutta niiden välissä oli pieniä puutarhoja, joissa aikanaan, ja nytkin kasvoi kukkapensaita sekä viiniä, ja joissakin oli jäänteitä suihkulähteistä tai vesialtaista.

There were houserows, now in ruins,  and small alleys were tight, but between them now and then small gardens, where once grew flowerful bushes and wine, and in some there were rests of fountains or other waterponds.

"Pompei elää"!   - "Pompei lives"!

 Pompeijin monet kujat ovat hiljentyneet entisaikojen elämästä, mutta rauniokaupungin pääväylällä soljuu turistien virta tänään.
Many small allies in Pompeii have quieted since the old times' life, but on the mainstreet of the ruined town,  flows the stream of turists today.

Hyvin vähän saattoivat nämä ihmisparat aavistaa, että päättysivät kivettyneinä kaiken kansan töllisteltäviksi lasikaappeihin.

Very little could these poor people foresaw that they in petrified form would once end up in a showcases for all people to gawk.

Rapistuneissa kivimuurien ja seinien kivissä näkyy ikivanhoja fossiilien jäännöksiä.

On the deteriorated stone walls one can see rests of ancient fossiles.

Portaat taivaaseen?  No ei ihan, vaan aikojen alussa ne johtivat pompeijilaistalon toiseen kerrokseen, joka nähtävästi on palanut poroksi tai romahtanut alas Vesuviuksen purkauksen yhteydessä.

The stares to heaven?  Well, not quite, but at its time they led to the second floor on this Pompeii house, which probably burned down or fell, when Vesuvius erupted.

Pompeijissa vallitsi korkea ja monipuolinen kulttuuri, mistä urheiluareenat, taideteokset, rakennukset seinämaalauksineen ja koristeineen sekä patsaat ovat  hyvinä todisteina.

Pompeii had a culture of high level, which all the sport arenas, artpieces and buildings with their decorations and wallpaintings samt statues very well witness of.

Tämä (alla) oli todennäköisesti jonkinlainen yhteinen suuri leipomo, uunissa on aukot kolmelle suunnalle, ja jauhinkiviäkin on useita.

This (under) was probably some kind of common bakery, the bakerown has openings to three directions and there are several grindstones, too.

Pompeijin nykyisiä asukkaita:

Ylimmäinen oli todennäköisesti alueelle pystytetyn kahvila/kioskin omistajan vahtikoira, kaulapanta kaulassa ja hyvin syöneen näköinen, nukkuu suruitta hellettä paossa, muurin varjossa.

Alempi oli huonokuntoisen näköinen, vanha ja takkuinen, enkä ikinä ole nähnyt niin tuskaisen, surullisen ja väsyneen näköistä katsetta koiralla kuin tällä. Kumpa olisi voinut jotenkin helpottaa sen oloa, mutta meillä ei ollut vettä eikä muutakaan annettavaa sille. Alueella oli muutenkin paljon irtokoiria, joille kylttien mukaan oli kielletty antamasta mitään tai niihin koskemastakaan. Valitettavasti!

The modern habitants in Pompeii:

The one over belonged surely to the owner of a cafee/pizzastall which was opened in the area. It had a collar, looked well fed out, and slept without sorrows, away from the heat in the shadow.

The dog under looked old and had filthy and shaggy fur.  Its eyes looked so tired and sorrowful and as if it was in pain or maybe faint for hunger. And obviously it had no home or owner.  It hurt me that we could not do anything for it, we had no water or food with us. There were also signs on the area which forbad to fead or touch the loose dogs.  Sadly!

Pompeijissa oli mahdottoman paljon nähtävää ja ihmeteltävää.  Me kuljimme siellä noin 2,5 tuntia kuumassa auringossa, ja kuitenkaan emme tainneet ehtiä nähdä kuin n. 60-70% koko alueesta. Koska aloimme olla melko uupuneita palasimme B&B hotelliimme, keräsimme siellä laukkumme, kiitimme vielä isäntäväkeämme, joka  oli ystävällisesti antanut meidän jättää ilmaiseksi automme ja tavaramme hotelliin siksi aikaa kun kuljimme Pompeijissa, ja vielä tarjosivat meille kylmää juotavaa ennen kuin lähdimme ajamaan seuraavaan kohteeseen: Sorrentoon.  Siitä enemmän ensi kerralla.  Tule mukaan!

There were lots and lots to see in the old Pompeii.  We walked there about 2,5 hours and yeat only had seen about 60-70% of everything.  It was a very hot day, too, and we began to be exhausted.  So we went back to our B&B, collected our luggage, and thanked the very friendly hosts who had let us without charges leave the car and bagages in hotel during our tour i Pompeii.  And then we continued to next stop:  Sorrento.  More of that in next post.  Come along!
