USA 11, Paluu - Return

Oceanside ja paluu  - Ocenside and return

Hello friends - now - and at last here comes the last of photos from our trip to USA last autumn.
We continued our trip from L.A. some more south forward to San Diego, but found out, that we would spring one day stll on beach, and so became the last stay in a little town with name Oceanside.
On this place we met our friends from Los Angeles, which invited us to a very nice fishrestaurang, which they knew well.  We had a wonderful lunch, remembering our last meeting years before and changing the last familynews. After the lunch we desided to just relax on the beach the rest of the day and try to find strengths for the long returntrip.  I have unfortenately forgot the name of the restaurang, but I can recommend it warmly, and I will add here the name and adress, when I have got it from our friends.  The restaurang had a nice atmosphere, the food was very good, and as it suites a fishrestaurang, there were marine decorations and big aquariums around.

Next morning the car turned back to north, and our route went rounding the west side of Los Angeles, along Higway 5.  The trafic was dense, it was the morning rush, but there were lot of lanes and the speed was fair.

Me pääsimme pian jatkamaan matkaa taas hyvään vauhtiin.
But suddenly it stopped. And very soon there were lang quees behind us, too.  After a 5-10 minutes' slow driving we came to the place where there were police and at least one car was damaged.  It seamed as if it had been half way up and down and we had seen rare marks on the betong side, too, just a little earlier.  We could soon after continue our way in good speed.

We never got nearer as this to Disneyland - though it was never in our plans either!  The merry-go-rounds and constructions of Disneyland park were although visible to the Higway 5.

When we had left Los Angeles behind us, began the desert, dry, dry, dry land, only with low bushes or some lonely little trees here and there.  An empty  landscape continued mile after mile.

In the middle of the dry desert landscape there suddenly showed upp a nice lake, is it quite natural formed or no, that I do not know, but I found out that it name must be " the Pyramidlake".  There seemed to be both parkinplaces and possibilities for beachlife.

A little house on the Prerie?  Though not quite so little, but it looks qute how it lies like on the bottom of a sandbox in the little vale.

...Ja pieni talo maantiellä!
....And a little house on the highway!
There saw some special and funnty transports on our way.  Above, a whole cottage has started moving.  I wonder if the wind has done it or what, but after that we once hade driven by it, but it had again come before us after our lunch and then it was staying on the side lane preparing the ceiling in the middle of its way.

Under, in the photo there is also a oversize and strage form of load.  It felt a little uncomfortable to drive by it, when the strange pouch type of load moved for and back.  It was not so heavy I think, but it seemed all the time as it it would fly up.

Yksinäinen näkymä.
A very lonely sight.

Maisemat olivat madaltuneet ja olimme tulleet valtavien hedelmätarhojen alueelle.  Maa näytti edelleen erittäin kuivalta, mutta nähtävästi kastelusysteemit toimivat hyvin, koska tarhat näyttivät voivan hyvin ja niitä jatkui silmänkantamattomiin, välillä molemmin puolin tietä.
The landscape had become lower and we had com to an area of orchards.  The soil looked very dry still, but presumably the watering systems functioned well, because the ordnards saw very vivid and fine, and they continued outside one's sight.

We had seen some flocks of sheep on our way, but suddenly we got sight of something unbelieveble big:
oxes, bulls, or cows, or what ever they were, were hundreds and hundred of they on an open enclosure, partly staying densely under light canopies.  There were enormous numbers of animals on this area, and I wonder how they could stand in the heat, without now possibilities to grass, and why they were gathered to that enormous flock on this area?

Jälleen vuoria ja autiota....
Again mountains and desert....

...kunnes suuri vesialue ilmestyi näkyviin.  Olen tulkinnut tämän olevan San Luis Reservoir, eli San Louisin vesiallas. Nähtävästi täältä johdetaan kastelu- ja juomavesiä suurelle alueelle ympäristöön. - Alamme jälleen vähitellen lähestyä San Franciscoa.
... until a large waterarea appears.  I think this must be San Luis Reservoir. I suppose it is from here one leads watering- and drinkwater to a bigge area around.   -  We are gradually  again approaching San Francisco.

Vasta illalla tulimme hotelliin, jonka olimme varanneet etukäteen.
We came first in the late evening to our hotel, which we had reserved already earlier.  Millwood Inn & Suites is only a little bite from the airport, where we first left our rent car.  After a late dinner we began to think about our beds, because we had a early flight to New York, already before 6 o'clock in the morning. There were not many hours to sleep, and therefore this cheap but very clean hotel near airport suited us well.

So,  early on the small hours we with sad feelings  took us to the airport, and then soon we were in the air while the land still lied in the darkness,  and the lights of San Francisco became smaller and smaller behind and under us.  But very soon after  in the air, the sun began to rose up in the horizont.

After the flight to New York,  we still had 4 hours to wait for our plane start to Europe and home in Norway.  We were tired, but we had had a wonderful holiday, we had seen much, and had fun - and already we wished to be able to come back. Now USA, and New York,  is like an oldish photo in our thoughts,  just a memory - but a good one!

Kiitos matkaseurasta!
Thanks for company on the way!
