On sadonkorjuun aika! Minulla on ollut kesähoidossa kokonaista kaksi (2!) tomaatintainta. Toinen on kirsikkatomaatti ja toinen pensastomaatti. Siitä huolimatta, että ne kesäloman aikana pääsivät pahasti kärsimään kuivuudesta ja monet lehdistä ruskettuivat, niin ne ovat kiitettävästi antaneet satoa. Pensastomaatissa on vielä monia suuria vihreitä raakileita, joista kuitenkin alan olla huolissani, että ehtivätköhän kypsyä ennen kuin ilmat viilenevät liikaa ja aurinkopäivät hupenevat. Tomaatit ovat viettäneet kesänsä tavallisissa suurehkoissa kukkapurkeissa terassillamme. Ensi kesäksi ehkä voisin yrittää rakennella jonkinlaisen kasvihuoneen tapaisen, tai muunlaisen vielä suojaisemman paikan ja istuttaa useampia taimia maahan, ehkä silloin kosteuskin säilyy juuristossa paremmin. Kaikesta huolimatta olemme tyytyväisinä jo pitkään saaneet nauttia näistä erittäin makoisista oman pihan tuotteista!

It is harvest time! I have this summer had quite two (2!) whole tomatoplants. One is type cherrytomato and the other is a bushtomato. In spite, that the plants suffered a lot of droth and several leafs turned to brown, they have very satisfactorily given us harvest. In the bushtomato there is still many big and green tomatos, which I am worried if they will mature before it becomes too chilly outside and the sunny days take end. The tomatos hav been living in usual plantpots on our terrace. Next summer I maybe could try to build somekind of greenhouse, or some other kind of sheltered place and plant several plants in soil, maybe it would better hold the soil moisture then.
All together, we have qlready for a longer time could satistied consume there very tasty products of our own.
